Amanda Maxwell attended NAGWS

Sophomore softball player, Amanda Maxwell, who was selected as Women of the Year for Sussex, proudly represented the Skylander community yesterday at Seton Hall University. Amanda enjoyed her experience and said "It was a tremendous experience and, being in an environment that is opening the eyes of so many, is very powerful. It truly meant a lot to represent Sussex and it was great to hear from so many inspirational speakers who have paved the way for women to have success in sports. It makes you realize how far we have come but yet how far we still need to go." Maxwell continued by saying, "This experience certainly has changed me. I want to be more of an advocate for young girls who are inspiring to play collegiate sports. Playing softball all my life, college is the only level that gets recognized. Most people don't even know that their is a professional softball league or the fact that there are only 6 teams that represent it. I may not have all the answers, but being a part of the movement to raise awareness to, not just my sport, but all sports, is something I am proud to do."
