John Kuntz Receives Ron Case Award as Region Director of the Year

On behalf of the athletic department and entire college community we would like to congratulate John Kuntz as he was named the Ron Case Athletic Director of the Year! John has been at Sussex for over 30 years and has literally built the athletic program from the ground up. Fellow colleagues of John offered there congratulations and weren't surprised that he received this award. Frank Vernacchio, the Men's and Women's soccer coach, said " John is a tremendous leader. He is encouraging, insightful and for me personally has been a great mentor. When I went to a region meeting in his place, other Athletic Directors across the Region would talk about John and how much he has helped our Region and them in particular. I believe that tells you everything you need to know about John and what he has meant to not only our college but to our Region as well." The praise kept coming as Traci Smith, the athletic secretary and someone who works closely with John, said " from the day I started working for John it was as though I have known him forever. He is just that type of guy; he is funny, easy going and, honestly, I could go on forever! He is truly a great boss and person. I am fortunate to work where I do and grateful to whom I work for!". Assistant Athletic Director, Athletic trainer, Assistant women's coach and Professor Mike Rath said, "I wouldnt be where I am today with out John. He is a great mentor and, to be honest, a yearly award doesn't come close to what that man deserves." 

Once again congratulations, John, and thank you for all you do. We are truly blessed!
