WHAT IS SAAC?

The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is a committee made up of student-athletes from all of SCCC's intercollegiate athletic teams. The group is assembled to provide insight on the student-athlete experience and to offer input on the rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes' lives while attending Sussex. The purpose of the SAAC is to act as a liaison and maintain lines of communication between student-athletes and the athletic administration to advance the interests of all athletic programs at Sussex County Community College, as well as create a better relationship with Sussex Athletics and the community.

WHO CAN BE A MEMBER?

Any student-athlete, enrolled full-time can be a SAAC member. At the end of each academic year, each team selects two athletes to serve as SAAC representatives for the following year. Generally, teams are encouraged to select one sophomore and one freshman for their team representatives.  (Teams with less than 10 members on the roster need only elect one representative). 2019-2020 SAAC members are listed below:

WHEN DOES THE SAAC MEET?

The SAAC meets a minimum of once per month from September through May. Meetings are held in E-Building.  Meetings for 2020 are held on every other Friday at 8:15a.m.  Below are the remaining meetings for Spring 2020:

WHO IS INVITED TO ATTEND SAAC MEETINGS?

The SAAC has extended an open invitation to all student-athletes, coaching staff, Athletic Department, college administrators and interested faculty who wish to attend the meetings.

WHO RUNS SAAC MEETINGS?

The SAAC annually elects officers for the positions of President, Vice President and Treasurer to make up the Executive Board.  These individuals set the agenda and guide the discussion at meetings.  The 2019-2020 SAAC officers are listed below:

 WHAT ARE THE SAAC REPRESENTATIVES RESPONSIBILITIES?

· Attend all SAAC meetings

· Voice concerns, and address college and athletic issues

· Foster community awareness, and devise community service projects for athletes

· Report back to their teams the relevant info regarding SAAC meetings

· Actively recruit teammates to participate in SAAC events and programs

· Plan and organize events for the Athletic Department to encourage student engagement
