Sussex Baseball Drops Opener in Extras

First game of the season took place as the Skylanders took on reigning Region 20 champs, CCBC Catonsville. Game took 10 innings for completion as both teams battled back and forth as there was 8 lead changes. Cole VanLuvender (Newton) started the game as he went 5.1 innings allowing only one earned run with 4 hits, freshman pitcher Edgardo Matute (Honduras) earned the tough lost  pitching 2.1 innings striking out 2 batters. Offensively, Sussex second baseman Dalton DelRosso (Hopatcong) went 2-5 with two runs scored, third baseman Johnny Franco (Hackettstown) went 2-4 with a run scored and an rbi, and Nicolas Dore (Canada) went 3-5 with a double and two rbi's.

Sussex baseball will be back at it tomorrow for a double header against CCBC Catonsville with Sean Kelemen (West Milford) starting game 1 and Trevor Risdon (High Point) starting game 2.
