Sussex Falls Short in DH Against CCBC Catonsville

In Game 1 loss, Sean Kelemen got the start for the Skylanders pitching 2+ innings giving up only one hit but had a hard time finding the zone with his three walks. Catonsville scored 2 runs in the first after a throwing error by Kelemen to first base. Sussex battled back after Anthony Melillo came in relief in the third with bases loaded no outs, to secure three outs with only four pitches. Melillo finished the day with 3 innings pitched while only giving up one hit. Slow game offensively for Sussex. Dalton DelRosso was a key hitter, going 1-3 with a run scored and a stolen base.

 

In Game 2 Sussex lost 5-4 in another back and forth game. Trevor Risdon got the start on the bump. He pitched 4.1 innings allowing 5 runs on 7 hits. He also walked 4 and struck out 2. Nathan King came in relief to keep the deficit at 5-3 in the fifth inning after getting two outs in bases loaded situation. Sussex had a total of 9 hits on with 4 players each with multiple hits. Bobby Fehr went 2-3 with 2 runs scored and a double; Johnny Franco went 2-4 and an rbi; Nicolas Dore went 2-4 and an rbi; Mongeon Kim went 2-3 with an rbi double.

 

Sussex looks to record its first win Tuesday March 6th at Middlesex Community College. Edgardo Matute will get his first collegiate start.
