SCCC Baseball Opens Up November Signings with 6 Commits

With all the uncertainties and disappointments from last spring to now due to Covid, Sussex baseball keeps on moving forward to keep building and evolving our team. Our job as a program is to maintain a reasonable roster, so players we recruit get the opportunity to develop and move on and also give that four-year vibe of a roster with players from all over the world and mesh with the county players that we get. The diversity is something that attracts players and makes us coaches continue to be excited every year with the players we have on our roster. As for the 2021-2022 incoming freshman class, it is no different, as we have secured talent from Honduras, Quebec, Ontario, Kittatinny HS, Walkill Valley HS and High Point HS.

Starting with Eliot Goulet, who is from Quebec, he is a RHP with a 3/4 slot and a heavy ball. Eliot came up on a visit last fall and worked out in front of the coaches. His demeanor in a simple bullpen was fierce and all business which is something that attracted us to him right away. Eliot will come in and hit the ground running, look forward to helping him succeed.

Next up is Luis Orellana, another RHP from Honduras. Luis played on the Honduras National Team and was their best and most consistent pitcher they had, even though he is a talented pitcher, his character was a big reason we wanted him. Luis is described as a team leader and being the youngest on his team he had no problem speaking up and hyping his teammates to be better. That is something we can all have and with his character and talents, Luis will thrive in our system.

Next signee is Logan Kobis. Logan is a very exciting pick up. Logan comes from High Point HS, we have watched this young man play and pretty much dominate the high school level since he was a freshman. He has also been a very exciting player to watch, whether it is on his summer ball team hitting shots in the gap or making great defensive plays in an Underclassman game at Skylands Stadium. Logan will come in as a catcher and keep the tradition of having a strong presence at that spot!

Terryn Babcock is a INF/RHP, he will come in as a two-way player for us. Terryn comes from Walkill Valley HS, this player has a tremendous bat and can be a very good defensive player, he also is a great pitcher on the mound. From dominating pitchers in his HS conference and dominating hitters in The Last Dance tournament, Terryn has the talent to be a special player for us and can't wait to get to work.

Tanner Rossi is a tall RHP from Kittatinny HS. Tanner is a young man who has talent to become something special. He is a raw talent, but we highly believe with him coming on board to our program, we can make him a phenomenal presence on the mound. With our coaching staff and support system with our players, Tanner will become a very solid player for us and can't wait to get to work with him.

Graham Sim hails from Ontario Canada, he is a RHP with tremendous amount of growth still to be tapped. Graham's interview and videos were very important to us here at Sussex, as it told us how mature and goal-oriented this player is. He would talk about his work ethic and his goals with conviction, also his progress from just a few short months of film was awesome. Graham has leader type qualities and top-of-rotation stuff, his ceiling is high and we look forward to seeing him exceed those expectations.

This is just month one and these six young men will be part of our big picture goals moving forward. Can't wait!
