Sussex drops heartbreaker in Region 19 Final

The Region 19 Men's Lacrosse Final was a fantastic game to watch.

Lead changes, big saves, behind the back goals, everything a fan of lacrosse would want. It's unfortunate that a team had to lose.

Sussex had a chance to ice the victory with the score tied at 12 and using their last timeout with 1:20 to play. A turnover, and a Del Tech timeout with under 30 seconds and a final goal with 5 seconds remaining ended what was truly a classic game for the ages and what you would expect out of a regional final.

Senior captain Jeremiah Carfello broke school records with points in a game with 11, and goals in a game with 9. The senior attack duo of Alex Husenjnovic and Nate Melnick finished with 8 points combined.

Sussex goalie Liam MacClugage, playing his 3rd position of the season, gathered 14 saves in Delaware.

Sparta's Chase Geer was the spark the Skylanders needed creating transition opportunities from the face-off X and off MacClugage stops pushing the ball in unsettled situations.

Sussex will head to Long Island to face Nassau Community College Friday April 26th in the North Atlantic District finals.  The game will be held at Mitchel Field in Garden City NY at 1:00.
