Sydney Grifone Signs On for 2023 Sussex Softball

The Lady Skylanders would like to officially welcome our newest recruit, Sydney Grifone, to the Sussex Softball family for the upcoming 2022-2023 season. As a future graduate of Vernon Township High School, Grifone possesses the ability to thrive on the diamond as well as enhance her personal growth at the collegiate level. As a natural leader, Grifone demonstrates a strong sense of motivation that will ultimately bring out the best in herself as well as the people around her. In addition to her character, this senior pitcher for the Vikings has earned various accolades for her performance on the mound, including NJAC First Team All-Conference, NFCA All-American Scholar Athlete, and NJAC All-Academic Team. Along with her awards as a Varsity athlete, Grifone continues to excel within the classroom. As an avid Honors and Advanced Placement student, Grifone has been recognized and inducted into numerous academic clubs, such as the Math, Social Studies, and Thespian Honor Societies. As an undecided major at Sussex, Grifone encompasses the true qualities of a successful student-athlete.

Lady Skylanders' Head Coach, Jamie Borger, is thrilled to congratulate Grifone on her recent commitment to join the Sussex Softball family. Borger states, "I am genuinely excited to have Grifone take a leadership role on the mound as well as in the batter's box. She has the work ethic to fully thrive within our program. I am very eager to help her reach her goals; however, I truly believe that her charisma and effort will open various doors of opportunity within the NJCAA and beyond." In addition to the coaching staff's excitement towards her signing, Grifone also expresses her enthusiasm in becoming a Lady Skylander. Grifone explains, "I am excited to start my academic and athletic journey at Sussex this upcoming fall. My future goal is to continue my education and softball career by believing in myself. No matter how hard college may seem, I am willing to put forth my best effort. I am looking forward to joining the Sussex Softball family as well as working towards my future career." Grifone demonstrates a strong sense of focus that will provide her the ability to accomplish her goals as a student-athlete.
