High Points Carlynn Cronen Inks with Sussex Softball

Sussex Softball would like to officially announce High Point HS standout shortstop Carlynn Cronen's commitment to the 2023 Sussex Softball team. Cronen ended her senior high school season with a .433% batting average and a .612% slugging average. The former wildcat had multiple multi-hit games and went nearly the entire season with at least one hit per game. A highlight from her senior season is when she helped High Point beat Newton HS in a head-to-head match-up. She went 3 for 4 with two doubles and 3 RBIs. Head Coach Jamie Borger comments on Cronen's commitment saying, "Carlynn's ability to lead by example is what stood out to me. Watching her in high school games, you could tell her teammates depended on and trusted her. That takes growth and maturity to step up within a varsity infield, and she did it with such ease. I'm excited to help her achieve her academic and career goals and get her working with Coach Max on pushing her infield potential."

Carlynn chose Sussex because it's close to home; she loved the atmosphere and the people she already knows that thrive at SCCC. She is majoring in Child Development and says, "My goal is to become a preschool teacher. After graduating from Sussex, I am looking to do online school to learn more about special education while working in the field." She also says, "I'm looking forward to the family bond that occurs on a college team and being able to continue doing what I love."

If you see Carlynn Cronen around, congratulate her on her commitment to helping NJCAA Sussex Softball shoot for a Region XIX title. Welcome home, Carlynn!
