Spencer Stewart brings home Sussex Wrestling’s first piece of hardware!

Sussex Wrestling was lead by Sophmore Taylan Zafis and Freshman Spencer Stewart at the Bob Quade open. Sophomore Taylan Zafis had a tough first match against event finalist Kevin Mulligan of Centenary. However, Taylan impressed us by winning his next three bouts in a row to make it all the way to the Consultation round of four before losing his final match. Freshman Spencer Stewart continues to look impressive this year. Pinning his way to the semi finals against division 2 Kutztown, and division 1 United Military Academy. He ended up losing in the semis 3-2 to a Division 1 opponent from Army West Point. Spencer would go on to wrestle back and win a 6-3 decision against Troy O'Conner of Middlesex for third place bringing home SCCC Wrestling's first hardware ever! Look for Sussex to get back to the mats December 18th.
