Roelofs Commits to Sussex

Ilse Roelofs (Netherlands) has penned her NJCAA Letter of Intent to join the Sussex women's soccer program in the fall of 2018.  Ilse is a talented and composed centerback, who can also play in the the midfield, as well as on the wing.  Ilse currently plays for Eldenia, and was one of the youngest players to make the second and first team at her club.  Roelofs stated, "I'm really happy to join Sussex.  I would like to bring a positive energy and motivation for the players who I will be playing with."  Ilse has been praised for her positive attitude and commitment by her coaches and others who have been around her this past year after recovering from an ACL injury she sustained in late 2016.  Head coach Frank Vernacchio is just as excited.  "We are delighted to have Ilse join our family.  We feel that she has the right mindset to compete at this level, and to make a direct impact on our college and program.  It takes a strong character to come back from a serious injury, such as an ACL, and we are very excited to work with Ilse this upcoming season."

Ilse is planning on studying Exercise Science at Sussex with plans to eventually earn her degree in Physical Therapy.
