Giovanna Toledo Castro Commits to Sussex

The Sussex women's soccer program has announced another signed player for the Fall 2018 season.  Giovanna Toledo Castro, from Ipatinga, Brazil, is a creative and technical midfield player who will bring a lot of experience to the Sussex soccer program.  Giovanna has been a part of many championship sides for both soccer and futsal in Brazil, starting from when she was 9 years old.  Head coach Frank Vernacchio added the following praise.  "Giovanna is extremely talented, and what caught our attention was how quick she played the game.  She has a great mentality and likes to play extremely fast.  We are delighted to have her join our family."

Castro is also excited to get started at Sussex.  "I thank Sussex and the coaches for giving me the opportunity to join the Sussex family and women's soccer program.  I thank my family for their support, and God for everything that is going the best way possible.  I hope to arrive in the USA in August in my best shape so that I can add greatly to the soccer program."

Giovanna is planning on studying journalism and pursuing a Communications degree while in the United States.
