Plut Joins Sussex

Erika Plut of North Warren Regional High School has joined the Sussex women's soccer program after signing her NJCAA Letter of Intent.  Plut, who was the starting goalkeeper at North Warren, finished ranked inside the top 5 of goalkeepers for the state of New Jersey for saves made in 2017 with 283, and added another 151 saves this past season. Head coach Frank Vernacchio is excited for the new signing.  "We really like what Erika can bring to our team.  She's calm and confident in penalties and has shown that she can play at the high level that is required for our region and district.  Her character will fit right in with the rest of our team, and I think that she will learn and grow a lot in our program."

Plut joins a talented recruiting class for Sussex who are looking to return to Region XIX Final this upcoming season with the goal of winning the tournament.  The last Region XIX Title was won in 2015, and head coach Frank Vernacchio thinks that this year's team has a good chance of succeeding this year.  "Our team this year has a lot of talent, as well as tactical knowledge compared to previous years.  We really feel that we are preparing well for the upcoming season and that we will be in a good position come August to push for the region title."

Sussex will open their season on Saturday, August 31 hosting Monroe College at 12:00pm.
