Sussex Wins 10th in a Row

The Sussex County Community College women's soccer team extended their win streak to 10 games with a 4-1 victory over Rowan College at Burlington County.  The Skylanders out shot RCBC 15-2 in the first half, but had to wait until the 43rd minute to score the opening goal. Giovanna Castro finished from inside the box into the upper left corner after being set up by Carina Gasparini.  In the second half, RCBC would tie the game after Sussex was unable to convert several opportunities, when Deanna D'Imperio dribbled past Sussex goalkeeper Katie Bertoa in the 56th minute.  Sussex would reclaim the lead 90 seconds later and would add 2 goals in 32 seconds, the first of which was scored by Giovanna Castro (her second of the game). Then, Carina Gasparini would add the second after having been denied by the post on her first attempt, she quickly poked home the rebound.  Maria Gomes would add the final nail in the coffin in the 75th minute scoring a volley off a cross from Jessenia Velez.  Sussex out shot Burlington 26-8.

Next up for Sussex is Region XIX rival County College of Morris on October 15, at 3:30pm at SCCC.
