Sussex Defeats Brookdale

The Sussex County Community College women's soccer team ended their regular season with a victory over NJCAA DIII #5 ranked Brookdale Community College.  It took a while for the Skylanders to find the back of the net on a cold, wet day in Englishtown, NJ, but Giovanna Castro gave Sussex the lead in the 35th minute of the game.  Giovanna scored her 22nd goal of the season by delicately chipping over the sliding goalkeeper after being sent through by Maria Macedo.  Sussex would add to their lead in the second half after Charleen Thöne converted a low cross from Carina Gasparini.  Not long after, Brookdale would add a goal of their own off of a free kick that beat Katie Bertoa at the near post.  Castro would score her 23rd of the season just minutes later after Sussex left back Olivia Hudson served up a fantastic early cross behind the Brookdale back line to seal the win for the Skylanders.
