Skylanders Release 2024 Football Schedule

Newton, NJ - The 2024 Skylander football schedule promises excitement and challenges, headlined by a rematch and an early-season showdown with a conference rival.

The Sussex Skylanders will kick off the second season under Head Coach James Robertson on Saturday, September 7, with an away rematch against Monroe. In week three, the Skylanders will be on the road again to face a building Louisburg team, which finished last season with a 5-4 record.

"We get tested right off the bat; four out of our first five games this season are away," said Robertson. "It won't be easy, but we preach overcoming adversity on and off the field. This is just another step in our growth as a program."

In week four, Lackawanna will travel to Sussex for the first of two regular-season matchups. Sussex gets a mid-season break with a week 5 bye, followed by a Thursday night matchup against Hudson Valley. In week 7, the team makes a short trip to Scranton to play Lackawanna for the second time this year.

"We look to be a top program in the country. With that, we are going to be tested every week," Robertson added. "We have some big tests and long trips this year."

On October 26, the reigning NJCAA Division 3 Champions, the DuPage Chaparrals, will visit Sussex. The Skylanders will then travel to Buffalo to play Erie on November 2, followed by their last home game of the season against Jireh Prep. The ultimate test comes when the Skylanders travel to Ephraim, UT, to take on the Snow Badgers on November 16. Last season, after a week 10 win against Monroe, it was between Sussex and Snow for a bid to play in the Game One Bowl. Ultimately, Snow got the bid but lost to Iowa Central.

"Our schedule doesn't do us any favors," Robertson explained. "Between the independent schedule and our three overnight trips, there are no off weeks."
