The Skylander Lacrosse team battled back to get their first "W" of the season on a cold Friday afternoon at Newton High School.
As injuries piled up early, the grey and blue leaned on their defense and goalie Joe Deciglia to hold off Williamson 9-8.
Grant Parker finished the day with 5 goals, while Cody Cooper and Nolan Waldron both found the back of the net twice.
Freshman Jake Christiano, Cooper, Waldron and Parker also assisted in scores.
Lou Merlino led the team in ground balls with 11 on the afternoon, while senior Deceglia was outstanding in cage with 13 saves.
The Sussex defense created several caused turnovers that led to transition opportunities to seal the victory. Mark Vanorski, Blake Mackie and Matt Bruno all had timely takeaways throughout the afternoon.
The Skylanders take on The Owls from Union March 9th at 5:00 PM on the road.
