Sussex Starts Slow, Rallies in Loss

The Hudson Valley offense didn't let the cold, rainy morning cool down their shooters when they jumped out to a first quarter lead Sussex couldn't recover from.
Senior attack Grant Parker would finish the day with 4 goals and a assist, while freshman Jon Parisi would notch 2 goals on the afternoon. Senior Nolan Waldron scored a goal while Freshman Jake Christiano dished out 2 assists.

The wet weather forced both teams to turn the ball over early, which resulted in transition opportunities by both squads, but Hudson Valley cashed in and left the Skylanders looking up out of a deep hole.

"There's two things that can happen in games like this," Sussex coach Steve Manitta said. "Teams put their heads down, pout, and quit, or they turn the page and get the next ground ball, continue to fight, continue to execute, and that's what they did today."
The defense of Mark Vanorski, Joe Thomas, and Blake Mackie tightened up around goalie Joe Deciglia and gave the Vikings fits for the remaining three quarters.
Matt Bruno, Dom Candeloro, Parisi, Kia Boyle and Jarod Lebovic played a much improved game as well creating turnovers and triggering offensively for the last three frames.

The Skylanders travel to Mercer on Wednesday April 6th.
