Sussex Defeats Ocean in OT
The Sussex County Community College Men's Team scored a huge home win on Saturday vs the Ocean CC Vikings 4-3 in overtime. The SCCC men quickly opened a 2-0 lead only to have the Ocean squad score 3 consecutive goals, and the Vikings led 3-2 until the final minute of play, when Mario Umanzor (Costa Rica) scored to tie the game. This goal sent the game into overtime and 3 minutes into overtime, Mario's cousin, Angel Umanzor (Costa Rica), scored on a nifty goal to give the Skylanders the exciting sudden death win. Tom Parry (England) also contributed with 2 goals and 1 assist.
The men's overall record stands at 12-3, and are currently in 2nd place in Region XIX, behind the Camden CC Cougars. The men will travel to Paramus, NJ, tomorrow to take on the Bergen CC Bulldogs in a 3:30pm start. The men will wrap up their regular season on Tuesday, Oct 17, at home vs Lackawanna College in a 3:30 pm start. The seeding for the Men's Region XIX Division III Soccer Tournament will be on Oct 18.
