Sydney Grifone Breaks 100 Strikeouts

Freshman Pitcher Sydney Grifone #18 is taking the mound by storm. In just her first collegiate year, she accomplished a major season breakout. On Wednesday, May 3rd against RCSJ-Cumberland, Grifone hit 100 strikeouts and is still climbing. As the starting pitcher for the Skylanders, she is leading the charge. Currently with 136 innings pitched, she's on the mound with 113 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.88. A piece of her success is attested to Freshman Catcher, Natalie Armstrong who has caught all of her 136 innings.

Coach Jamie says, "Syd's perseverance this season is incredible. Yes, she works tirelessly but the biggest flex for her is the trust her teammates have in her and the trust she has in them. The pitcher-catcher combo of Nat and Syd is unbreakable and it takes a lot of faith to trust someone you just met a few months prior. We are excited to see Syd continue her success on the mound! We are proud of her."

Congratulations to Sydney Grifone for being recognized for all of her hard-earned efforts this season.

The Skylanders are currently 4th in Region XIX and await confirmation into playoffs.
