Softball Ranked 4th in Region XIX - Headed to Playoffs

The Sussex Softball team will play their first Region XIX playoff tournament round this Tuesday, May 9th. The 3-game series is against RCSJ-Cumberland for a spot in the final four tournament. This is the first time since 2011 that Softball ranked high enough to host a playoff series.

Coach Jamie Borger states, "This team set their sights on strong goals early in the Fall semester. It's exciting to see their progress come to life, as our goal was to make it to the Playoffs. The beauty about playoffs is that everyone starts at zero. It doesn't matter that we had an excellent run to get here; what matters is how we get through these tournament rounds to make it to the championship game, and this team can do that!"

Captain Raeann Teague, who unfortunately had a season-ending injury, stated, "Witnessing my teammates accomplish this goal has been a highlight for me this year. Although I am sidelined, I'm proud to stand by this team and help to motivate them to see their potential through the championship game."

The Sussex/Cumberland game winner will travel to Lincoft, NJ, to face #1 seed Brookdale CC for the District A Crown.
