Shaylin Yard Commits to Sussex Softball
Sussex Softball proudly welcomes our newest 2024 commit, Shaylin Yard, from Belvidere High School. Shaylin is a true utility player with a resume including infield, outfield, and catching. She was recognized as All-Conference 2nd team for softball while receiving multiple academic honors. Shaylin is coming to Sussex and majoring in Biology, with plans to achieve her Bachelor's and then Masters's degree in Marine Biology after her time at Sussex.
Shaylin chose Sussex for the beautiful campus, the courses offered to accelerate her education, and the opportunity to continue her lifelong passion for playing softball. She has played softball for 13 years, including travel ball since 10U. Shaylin said, "I am looking forward to improving my skills and meeting new people. Softball has been a great influence on my life…It is a sisterhood to learn from each other mentally and physically."
The Sussex Softball coaching staff is excited about Shaylin's experience, knowledge, and skill that will help elevate the program at the NJCAA Division II level.
