Sussex Victorious over RCGC, Last Season's Champs

Coming out of halftime, the game looked decided as Rowan came out hard, hitting 3 buckets and quickly putting Sussex into a 15 point deficit. The Skylanders managed to regain control, but Sussex was still down 12 with only a few minutes left in the game.

Coach Gaffney called a timeout and told her team the game was still to be had, to believe in it and to keep fighting. Five minutes was ENOUGH time, but they had to do it together.

The women heard.

They came out battling, bringing the game to within 5 with one minute to go. Alyssa Aragona was fouled going up for a three, and hit all her foul shots to put the girls within 2. Less than 30 seconds on the clock, Casey Langenbach came up with a quick steal that led to Sussex possession and a foul. Langenbach hit the first, and the ball was knocked out of bounds on her second by Rowan. No timeouts left for either team, with 7 seconds to go, the Skylanders successfully ran an inbounds play with Aragona hitting the game winning bucket on an assist from Phoebe Livingston.

The Skylanders won with a one point victory over RCGC! What a great game and an excellent and heart-filled effort by the entire Skylander team! Aragona led with 29 points; Langenbach had 12 and a whopping 19 rebounds and 5 assists. Hannah Delbury hit 8 points, Livingston 6 and Sydney Tantleff chipped in 10 tough boards.
