Women Take RCSJ-Gloucester; Aragona Sets Scoring Record

On Saturday, the Sussex women defeated #3 RCSJ-Gloucester 90-79. The women played phenomonal team basketball with every Skylander contributing to the victory.

Alyssa Aragona led with an unbelievable 61 points, resetting the SCCC record for scoring in a single game. She hit 8 threes and went 93% from the free throw line (13/14).

Coach Gaffney commented, "The girl was on fire! She couldn't miss, and her teammates kept setting her up with screens and assists. Everyone wanted to win, Aragona wanted to win, and she just kept hitting and we kept feeding her. Coming off an injury that put her out for multiple games, Alyssa has been hungry. In her past two games, she's scored 97 points - while being face-gaurded! She got a lot of points tonight off of hustle - rebounds and steals; she did not want to lose. The whole team played with incredible heart."

Phoebe H. Livingston, who has been out with an injury since mid-December, also came out with a vengeance and dropped a season high 14 points. She was followed by Miranda Hnyda with 6 and Lana Varcadipane with 4 and multiple blocks.

Sussex will take on Bergen on Tuesday (1/14) at home at 5 p.m.
