3 Sussex Wrestlers Place In The Top 6 At The 12th Annual Bob Quade Cyclone Open

On Sunday December 4th Sussex wrestlers competed in the 12th Annual Bob Quade  Cyclone Open at Centenary University.  This tournament consisted of teams from NCAA Division I,II,III and NJCAA.

It was a milestone day for our program placing 3 wrestlers in the top 6 at this tournament.  Nik Pagano 157lbs finished 6th, Noah Ripley 197lbs finished 6th and Shane Saulnier 285lbs finished 4th.

Nik had back to back pins over Straker of SUNY and Farkas of Rutgers to start his day. He pinned Straker in the round of 32 and then Pinned Farkas in the round of 16 to put himself in the semi finals and solidify a top 6 finish.

Noah advanced through the round of 32 with a tough fought 6-4 win over Othman of Rutgers.  He followed that up with a 13-10 come from behind win over East Stroudsburgs Edwards in the round of 16 to get into the semi finals and lock up a top 6 finish.

Shane then became our 3rd semi finalist with a pin over Ortiz of Rutgers in the round of 16.  He followed that up by a big redemption victory over Deevey of Centenary who beat him at the ESU Open.  Shane won the rematch 4-0 to earn his 4th place finish.
