Sussex Edges Out Harcum

The Sussex women's soccer team defeated Region XIX opponent Harcum College 2-1 on Saturday. Sussex was able to hang on through a physical second half with Harcum providing the pressure for the majority of it. Harcum opened the scoring just past the 12 minute mark when Jessica Stevens broke through the Sussex defense to slot past Sussex goalkeeper Emily Martinez. The Skylanders answered back 4 minutes later when Giovanna Castro ran on to a through ball from Ellie Roberts, and sped past the Harcum defense to equalize for Sussex. Karleigh Noll then scored the game winning goal 10 minutes later from inside the six yard box off a touch from Giovanna Castro to give Sussex the lead. Sussex then absorbed the pressure from Harcum in the second half, without giving up a shot on target, to seal the game. Sussex is now 3-0 in the region and will play against Essex CC on Tuesday.
