
Lombardo and Pauls Place at Millersville
The Sussex Women's Wrestling Program successfully competed at their first competitive tournament this season. Sophia Lombardo and Grace Pauls both competed and placed at the Millersville Open on November 17.
Lombardo started the open by defeating Muhlenberg's Lazaro by technical superiority 10-0 after just 46 seconds, qualifying for the quarter-finals. In the quarter-final match, she pinned Charman of Cedar Crest after 3:54 and then defeated Penn State Altoona's Steinbuch in the semi-finals by technical superiority 10-0 in 44 seconds. Lombardo was then pinned by Barrus of Bethany and finished 2nd Place for the event.
Grace Pauls wrestled Robinson of Alvernia by technical superiority 16-9 in 5:23. Pauls then wrestled her first consolation match, pinning Cilento (unattached) in 24 seconds. In the consolation semi-finals, Pauls wrestled Robinson of Alvernia again, securing the pin in 2:32 and then defeated Bonilla of Felician by technical superiority 12-0 in 3 minutes to secure a 3rd place finish.
Women's Wrestling competes next at the Bob Quaide Open at Centenary University on December 8.
