Sussex Men's Basketball defeats # 7 Northampton 72-65

The Sussex County Community College Men's Basketball team defeated Northampton Saturday afternoon 72-65 to pick up their third victory in a row.  Northampton came into the game ranked number 7 in the nation for NJCAA Division 3 basketball.  Sussex and Northampton played a close first half with Northampton leading 29-28 at halftime.  Sussex and Northampton continued to battle throughout the second half. Northampton tied the game at 59 on two free throws with 2:47 left to play.  Sussex then pulled ahead with a tough layup from PJ Ross with 2:40 left.  Sussex secured the victory with strong free throw shooting over the final two minutes.  

PJ Ross led Sussex with 23 points and 6 rebounds.  Nate Aklilu added 19 points and pulled down 5 rebounds.  Christian Archer had a strong game with a double-double (12 points and 12 rebounds).  Point Guard, David Forzani, ran the offense throughout the afternoon.  Forzani contributed 10 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals to the winning effort.  Jesus Romero had 3 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals throughout the afternoon. Keenan Iseli (3 points) and Jalil Golden (2 points) both came off the bench for key minutes to help secure the victory.   

The Sussex Skylanders improve to 10-5 overall and 9-3 in Regional 19 play.  Sussex will host Union on Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m.
